How long are sessions?

Standard individual and conjoint (couples/family) therapy sessions are weekly and last between 45-50 minutes.  There are some circumstances where it might be beneficial to have extended session, and meet more/less than once a week.  If you believe that you will benefit from an extended session or an alternative session schedule, please feel free to discuss this with me.

It is important to note that consistency is encouraged, especially early on in treatment as we are getting to know each other. However, I understand that life doesn’t always afford us that luxury and I am always willing to work with a client to meet their unique needs.

How Long Will I Be in Therapy?

This is the question that every clients wants to know and the very unsatisfying answer is I’m not sure.  There are many factors that impact the length of treatment and so there isn’t a one size fits all answer to that questions.  Some clients might be able to work through and solve a problem in just a few sessions, while others will need several years to work through larger more complicated issues.  After the first few sessions, I should be able to provide you with a better estimate on how longer treatment might take.  However, it is important to remember that you are in charge of the process and can stop, pause or resume treatment as needed.

Will We Work Well Together?

Maybe.  The truth is that I will be the perfect fit for some clients and not a good fit at all for others.  The best way to discern if we will be a good fit is to do a consultation session.  Therefore, I offer a free 20 minute ‘Meet & Greet’ session to determine if I will be the right therapists to meet your needs.

what is your fee and do you take insurance?

My standard fee is $125 for a 45-50 minute individual session and $150 for a 45-50 minute conjoint (couples/family) session.

I do offer a limited number of sliding scale spots for clients who require a reduced rate.  Please feel free to contact me to check if spots are available.

I current do not accept insurance but I am considered an Out-of-Network provider and if you have PPO Insurance with Out-of-Network Mental/Behavioral Health benefits I can provide you with documentation to submit to you insurance for reimbursement.

Additional information on fees and insurance can be found under the “Fees” page.

What type of payments do you accept?

I currently accept Cash, Check, all major Credit Cards (AMEX, VISA, MASTERCARD and DISCOVER CARD) and HSA/FSA.

What is your cancellation policy?

Session must be cancel or reschedule at least 24 hours in advance. This is necessary because a time slot is held exclusively for you and therefore the full session fee will be charged if a session is not canceled or re-scheduled at least 24 hours in advance.

What should I do to prepare for the session and What should I bring with me?

I utilize an Electronic Health Record (EHR) system and therefore my practice is completely paperless.  Meaning there is no need to arrive early for your first session.  Prior to our first meeting I will email you a link to your ‘Client Portal’ where you will be able to complete all necessary paperwork at your own pace.

Additionally, the only thing you will need to bring with you is yourself and your story…I will be provide everything else.

Due to COVID-19, if it decided that an in-person session should be conducted than I ask that you wait in your car prior to session and I will call/text you to let you know when to come in.  This is to ensure that social distancing can be enforced and there is limited exposure.  Lastly, client must wear masks in the waiting area and during sessions.

How do I access our telehealth session?

If we will be doing a phone session, I will simply call you at our scheduled session time at the number you provide.

Prior to our video session I will email or text message you the link to our session.  The link changes every session so you will receive a new link before every session.

I use ‘Simple Practice’ and if you will be logging into our video session via a computer you will just need to click the link.  However, if you will be using a tablet or phone to access our video sessions, you will first need to download the app “Telehealth” by Simple Practice prior to logging in.

What should I do when I arrive?

When you arrive you can enter the office and have a seat anywhere in the waiting room.  At the beginning of our session I will come out to meet you and bring you back to my office.

Where do I park?

There is ample metered parking on the street directly in front of the office on Dayton Street.

You can download the ‘Passport Parking’ app, setup an account, add your vehicle(s) and add payment information prior to your session.

That way when you arrive you just open the app and tap on the ‘Zone 6263’ button that automatically pops up and you are good to go…it’s super easy and convenient!

It is not advised to park in the lot directly across the street, as it is a flat $7 fee for the entire day and way more time than you will need.

Additionally, it is always advised to check the street signs but for your convenience here is a quick recap:

  • No Parking Between 2am to 6am
  • 2 Hour Parking Sunday-Thursday (6am to 8pm) and Friday-Sunday (6am to 2am)
  • Pay to Park Monday-Thursday (11am to 8pm); Friday-Sunday (11am-2am) and Sunday (2pm-8pm).
